I am totally dirt blocks for Minecraft. At first it was just a silly thing I played with while watching Mythbusters or 24 on Netflix, but as soon as I found out my favorite web-hangout had a server, everything changed. I started to think a lot about what I wanted to build, how I wanted to leave my mark, how I wanted to help the community.
While trying to spruce up my digs, I ended up burning down the nearby forest. We lost anywhere between 50-75 trees that night, and I felt so bad. I mean, trees are nothing. I had already started a tree farm with all the saplings I had accumulated over my exploring, but that didn’t stop me from feeling bad. I felt like I had let down the community, one which I was trying desperately to become part of again.
In the end, it didn’t matter. We’re resetting the server and starting from scratch again, which means more time during school and on the bus thinking about how I want to make my little town and contribute to the community as a whole.
You should comment about Minecraft. Or post in the forums. Share some servers. I’d really like to play with more people. Maybe we can start one? Who knows.
